This compact and flexible
house prototype is designed for families with children but can
accommodate a variety of family types and living arrangements.
It works as a single-family residence, or can be mirrored to
become a duplex. Combinations of these can be organized to form
“cottage style” housing.
As shown here, low-income units can be interspersed with
market-rate housing.
The building footprint is
kept to a minimum for environmental and economical reasons. A dense
organization of houses, combined with common outdoor spaces,
promotes interaction between residents and the surrounding
community.
This project was a
collaboration between BLIP and Urban
Wedge.
